day 2 : Doi Suthep Temple & Meo Hill-tribe village

Chiang Mai Doi Suthep Temple & Meo Hilltribe Village is set amongst the peaks of Doi Suthep. It has a lovely setting with a panoramic view of Chiangmai and the Mae Ping River valley. Although Wat Doi Suthep is the most recently built of the temples dating from the Lanna Thai period, it is the symbol of Chiangmai. The site was selected by sending an elephant to roam at will up the mountainside. When it reached this spot, it trumpeted, circled three times, and kneeled down and thus interpreted as a sign indicating and auspicious site.

08.30 AM Doi Suthep Temple & Meo Hill-tribe village (Half day)
A pleasant winding drive up to Wat Prathat Doi Suthep, the symbol of Chiang Mai, where the holy relic of the Lord Buddha is enshrined. 2 magnificent Nagas act as guardians as you ascend up the steps to the temple.
A splendid view of town and the surrounding country -side can be seen from the temple grounds. Drive further up the mountain to a Meo hill-tribe village. Migrants from China, they choose to live in self-sufficient villages while retaining their primitive culture, quaint customs and elaborately embroideried dresscs.

01.30 PM Home Industries (Half Day)
A paradise program for shoppers willing to enjoy the fun art of shopping see world -renowned native handicrafts actually being crafted by master craftsmen and their assistants.
Elaborate teak-wood carvings, intricate hand-made silverware, high-fired celadon, lustrous black lacquer ware, Thai silk and cotton being woven the ancient, traditional way on rustic wooden looms, primitive paper-making process, hand-made paper and silk parasols in a dazzling blaze of rainbow hues. High skill and endless patience is a necessary virtue to work in these industries.

day 3 : Elephants at Work & Orchid Farm

08.30 AM Elephants at Work & Orchid Farm (Half day)
A short pleasant trip out into the country - side. In lush jungle north of the city, a demonstration of how talented and trained elephants are used in the timber industry is held. Using their tusks, powerful trunks and feet, they push, pull and roll logs in unison. This is a great opportunity for you to experience and elephant ride. (The ride is optional and extra). On returning, stop to visit an orchid farm filled with magnificent orchid blooms in a dazzling array of colours.
Have A Lunch.
02.00 PM Depart Chiang Mai by minibus for a scenic drive through undulating mountains and valleys, verdant woods, quaint small towns, picturesque villages and emerald green rice fields.(from June-October). Stop by at a Hot -spring where you can mingle with the locals.
05.00 PM Arrive to Chiang Rai and check in at a hotel for overnight accommodation.
day 4 : Doi Tung

Known by locals as Thailand’s Switzerland, Doi Tung (‘Flag Mountain\') is an attractive mountain-top destination of forests and nearby Shan, Akha and Lahu tribal villages. Probably the most important attraction in the area is Wat Phrathat Doi Tung – a temple built one thousand years ago which is an important place of pilgrimage for Buddhists from Thailand and overseas. A giant flag was flown from the point where the temple’s chedis were built giving \'flag mountain\' its name. Doi Tung is also home to the Doi Tung Development Project, an initiative of Her Royal Highness Srinakarindra the Princess Mother (mother of Thailand’s current monarch) who passed away in 1995.

08.00 AM A pleasant winding drive up to Doi Tung. A Royal Villa has been constructed up there. Stop by to visit an Akha hill -tribe village. These people still preserve their primitive culture, ancient customs and colourful dresses.
Drive to the flourishing border town of Maesai (Burmese border) and stop by at a jade carving factory. Then on to the world - renowned Golden Triangle where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Burma meet at the confluence of the mighty Mekong River.
Proceed to the ancient town of Chiangsaen, which was the very first Kingdom in Thailand, situated on the banks of the Mekong River. Drive back to Chiang Mai. (Alternatively, clients can fly back or take a tour bus direct from Chiang Rai to Bangkok).
