Hua Hin is a seaside resort city on the west coast of the Gulf of Thailand. It is popular with Thais, having become quite fashionable as a weekend getaway spot for Bangkok residents which can travel on recently upgraded highways in 2 and half hours to Hua Hin. It is also very popular with foreigners and as an ex-pat retirement or vacation home location.
Hua Hin has one of the lowest rain falls in Thailand (see Hua Hin Weather) and being a coastal town gets that lovely sea breeze, so can be visited all year round. Hua Hin is possibly the best place in Thailand for year-round golf with eight championship golf courses within half an hour, significantly cheaper then Phuket and fine hotels for every budget.

The driest, sunniest days fall between November and May, and the most rain is typically expected from June through October. If you travel in December or January, be prepared for most costly accommodations, which book up earlier. In truth, a pleasant vacation is possible year-round, since Hua Hin has one of the lowest rainfalls in Thailand. And though the weather is hot, the cool sea breeze keeps temperatures manageable.

How to get to Hua Hin from Bangkok

Bus: From Bangkok Southern terminal every 40 minutes from early until late, about THB 160 each way, journey time about 3 hrs 15 minutes

Train: Today, Hua Hin is a well-established beach destination with word-class facilities coupled with a true sense of Thai hospitality. Despite its expansive growth and development as a luxurious destination, the splendor of Hua Hin remains intact. Remaining content in itself, Thailand’s oldest seaside resort has never sought international recognition. It has continued to provide a peaceful and relaxed sanctuary in a picturesque environment that comes with a true sense of historical identity.

Air: SGA Aero operates 4 flights per day from bangkok Airport to Hua hin Airport, flight time 30 to 40 minutes, return fares about THB 5,200. Hua hin Airport is also convenient for Cha Am.

Taxis: Easily available, journey time about 3 hours, fares range from THB 1,600 ipwards.

Limousines: Easily available from airport and city, fares range from about THB 2,850 upwards, and more comfortable than normal taxis. Large sedans and min-vans available.

Hotel Transfers: Some hotels / hotel groups such as Hyatt and Dusit have regular transfers between their Bangkok and Hua Hin properties, either large sedans or luxury mini-vans.

Shared Mini Vans: This option is available from most any travel agency in Bangkok, but must be booked ahead. It's one of the most cost effective ways to get to Hua Hin. One way fares usually cost no more than THB 500. The trip takes a little over 3 hours, depending on your place in the pick up or drop off queue.
