Pathum Thani
Pathum Thani General Information
Pathum Thani is a neighbouring province of Bangkok. It is situated on the Chao Phraya basin with plenty of canals and orange plantations. Its original name is Mueang Sam Khok, which was founded during the Ayutthaya era. It was the settlement for the Mon people migrating from Mohtama (in Myanmar) over 350 years ago. In the year 1815 when King Rama II made a royal visit to this area, the inhabitants offered him plenty of lotus flowers which is the origin of the present name.
The Pathum Thani Town is only 46 kms. from Bangkok. It occupies an area of 1,525 square kilometres and is administratively divided into 7 districts (Amphoes): Muang Pathum Thani, Lat Lum Kaeo, Sam Khok, Thanyaburi, Nong Suea, Khlong Luang, and Lam Luk Ka.

- Rangsit boat noodle
Rangsit boat noodle is a highly-recommended food. Delicious boat noodle is served by a number of food shops linging the khlongs in Rangsit district.
- Spicy Kung Ten
Spicy Kung Ten is a famous dish of Pathum Thani. Most restaurants offering this dish are located next to rivers or khlongs but the popular ones are in Mueang district.
- Tangarin
Tangarin a famous produce of Pathum Thani, where is a tangerine farming centre in Thailand.

- National Science Museum
The National Science Museum Located on Klong (canal) 5, Klong Luang in Pathum Thani, the Science Museum is part of the Technopolis complex. When completed, this park will be comprised of not only the Science Museum, but also the Natural History Museum, the Ecology and Environment Museum and the Aviation and Telecommunications Museum. The Science Museum is open from 9.30 a.m. - 5.00 p.m., Tuesday - Sunday. For admission is 60 baht for adults and foreigners, student of university should be show ahead student card and children is free.
- The Supreme Artist Hall
The Supreme Artist Hall is located at Khlong (Canal) 5 in Khlong Luang district. It is evident to the Thai People that His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej has taken an active interest in all kinds of Art. His Majesty's accomplishments in the Arts are witnessed and recognised worldwide.
The three-story building is divided into seven rooms : one for Administration, one for temporary exhibition, five for permanent exhibition (two for the Supreme Artist, and three for 151 National Artists / since 1985-2003). The exhibition halls are equipped with modern mixed media; such as video, multimedia computer, video CD, CD, Duratane picture, Diorama, Karaoke, photo sticker box, slide multi-vision etc.
- Wat Chinwararam
This temple, originally called Wat Makham Tai, is located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River slightly opposite the mouth of Khlong Rangsit Prayunsak in the vicinity of Amphoe Muang. The main interests are mural paintings depicting the story of "Phra Chao Sip Chat" or Lord Buddha's ten lives with poetic descriptions.
- Wat Hong Pathummawat
This temple is located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River in the town. It was constructed by the Mon immigrants in 1764 during the reign of King Taksin. The chedi and vihara are replicas of the ones at Hongsawadi City. The fish sanctuary in front of the temple attracts many tourists during holidays.
- Talat Thai
Talat Thai is Thailand's largest, international standard wholesale and retail market for food products and all agricultural produces including fruits, vegetables, cut flowers and pot plants. It is located on 200 acres of land in Tambon Rangsit, Amphoe Thanyaburi on Bangkok's outskirts and can be accessible by Phahonyothin Road.
- Wat Chedi Thong
This temple is located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River in the vicinity of Amphoe Sam Khok, 8 kms. from Pathum Thani Town. There is a Mon style pagoda approximately 160 years old and a white jade Buddha image enshrined in the ubosot.
- Dream World
Situated at km.7 of Rangsit-Ongkharak Road, this large amusement park houses a European style plaza, miniature land of major world legends, and offer exciting rides, shows and games.
- Muai Thai Institute
This institute has been established by the World Muay Thai Council in order to promote this folk arts of self defense at national and international levels. It offers three types of Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) courses for both Thais as well as foreigners. Besides the fundamental programmes which provide skills, experience, and knowledge of the Muay Thai culture, one can apply for special programmes to become Muay Thai instructors or referees.
